Steven was known for his positive spirit, always the first with encouraging words: “Hold your head up. Keep your head up. Everything’s going to be alright.” An accomplished athlete, he earned a track scholarship to DePaul University and competed in Barcelona, Spain, as part of the Junior Olympic team.
In January 2023, Steven’s life was tragically cut short following a hit-and-run accident. During their grief, his mother Julia and her family made the decision to donate Steven’s organs and tissues, creating a legacy of hope for others.
Through donation, Steven helped multiple recipients, including those in need of a kidney transplant, cornea transplant and tissue grafts. Knowing that someone can see through Steven’s gift has brought comfort to his family.

To honor his memory, Julia’s family created Shine for Steve, a safety awareness initiative that distributes safety kits throughout the community.
Today, Steven’s impact lives on through the lives he touched, inspiring Julia to become a registered organ donor herself.
