Shaun Martin is responsible for the leadership and supervision of Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network’s Tissue Recovery operations. He directs the development and implementation of procedures and protocols to ensure efficient and well-coordinated tissue recovery services that align with regulatory bodies and Gift of Hope’s strategic initiatives. Martin also oversees the maintenance and use of the organization’s facilities, while planning for expansion of operations in the future.

Martin joined Gift of Hope in 2002. In prior roles, he was a tissue recovery coordinator, supervisor and manager, and forensic liaison. Before joining Gift of Hope, Martin worked in emergency management services as a member of the Chicago Fire Department’s First Aid Care Team.

Among his leadership roles, Martin is a member of the National Association of Medical Examiners and served on its Organ and Tissue Donation Ad Hoc Committee. He is a former chair of the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations Tissue Services Council and a member of the American Association of Tissue Banks Planning Committee.

Martin is a certified tissue bank specialist and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. He also earned a certificate in The Art and Science of Leadership from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
