Pamela Mitchell-Boyd is the Senior Director, Appreciation, Belongingness, Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity at Ascension. She has supported the development of operational and governance structures for Ascension’s Inclusion Cultural Framework. She ensures that the Ascension Board, Ascension Leadership Team, and the System-wide Council Participants are appropriately updated, consulted and engaged in all activities related to the ABIDE Hallmarks and Inclusion Cultural Framework.
Before serving as ABIDE Director, Mitchell-Boyd served AMITA Health as the System Director for Diversity, Inclusion & Language Services, where she collaborated with its senior leadership team to develop health equity strategic initiatives, and established the Language Services program, which provided interpretive services for more than 100 languages. She also launched a review of Race, Ethnicity and Language (REaL) data to support work around health equity issues related to heart failure readmissions and COVID-19 health disparities. In addition, she formed the Market’s Supplier Diversity Committee to promote diversity spending, and led several initiatives to hire associates from socially vulnerable populations.
Throughout her career, she has championed and supported socially vulnerable populations and to ensure that adults and children are provided with fundamental human needs such as housing, education and healthcare.
Mitchell-Boyd earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Social Policy from the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University, and a master’s degree in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago. She is a Clinical Social Worker by profession. She has earned a Certificate in Diversity Management in Health Care from the Institute of Diversity in Health Management (American Hospital Association) and serves on the Diversity and Disparities Committee of the Catholic Health Association.
