Dr. Michael Iwanicki brings more than 25 years of experience to his practice as a Trauma/Critical Care Surgeon for Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, a 350-bed Level 1 Trauma Hospital in Downers Grove, Ill. As an administrative leader, he holds the title of Medical Director of Trauma and Critical Services. Dr. Iwanicki also maintains a robust general surgery practice and is an associate clinical professor of surgery.
Dr. Iwanicki’s medical leadership experience includes roles as Medical Staff President and Chair of Surgery. He served as Co-Chair of Gift of Hope Critical Care Advisory Board, NASCAR consultant and track physician, and a trauma medical director for an aeromedical transport service. He has held numerous committee positions at the local, state and regional level.
As an administrator, Dr. Iwanicki led the creation and implementation of service line policy and procedures, budget management, physician recruitment, retention and management, and safety at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Iwanicki oversaw the redesign and implementation of peer review and quality for Advocate Good Samaritan.
Dr. Iwanicki received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree as well as his postgraduate training from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine/Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Ill. He earned his undergraduate degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.
