Marion Shuck serves as Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network’s Executive Vice President for Governmental Relations & External Affairs, where she leads the company’s governmental relations, community outreach, donor family service and ambassador programs. As the principal liaison to elected government officials at all levels, Shuck consults, plans and executes comprehensive, proactive government relations strategies that advance Gift of Hope’s mission. She oversees and develops strategic working relationships with healthcare, educational, religious, civic and social organizations, with donor families, with communities and other partners throughout Gift of Hope’s donation service area to increase organ, eye and tissue donation.
With over 15 years’ experience as a champion for community outreach and a passion for educating and engaging people on the importance of organ and tissue donation, Shuck credits her success to talking with people and not at people.
Before joining Gift of Hope in 2009, Shuck provided strategic talent acquisition leadership to industry leaders. Her more than 15 years as a human resources professional honed her relationship-building skills and created a passion for fostering connections with diverse audiences, partners and stakeholders.
Shuck is immediate Past President of the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation (AMAT) and a member of the National Council of Negro Women, the Black Doctoral Network and the National Society of Leadership and Success Honor Society. She is currently board chair for Donate Life Illinois.
Shuck is a two-time AMAT Presidential Award Recipient and was recognized by the National Council of Negro Women for outstanding service to the community. She is a recipient of the Orrington Institute’s Most Distinguished Women in Illinois award and the Chicago Defender Women of Excellence award.
Shuck holds a master’s degree in human resource management from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in philosophy from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minn., and a bachelor’s degree in business and leadership from Kendall College in Chicago.
