About the observance
This month is also an opportunity to celebrate the incredible generosity of Hispanic donors and their families while emphasizing the urgent need for more people in this vibrant community to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network joins the national donation community and in collaboration with Donate Life America in sharing important facts and educating others about the life-saving and healing benefits of organ and tissue donation, inspiring individuals to give the ultimate gift of hope.
Meet
The Hispanic community faces a critical need for organ and tissue donation, making education on this issue essential. Hispanics are disproportionately impacted by the shortage of available organs for transplant, emphasizing the urgency of raising awareness. Across the United States, nearly 100,000 people are on the organ transplant waitlist, including over 23,000 individuals from Hispanic communities. Encouraging increased donor registration within the Hispanic population is vital to addressing this disparity and saving more lives.
