National Hispanic Heritage Month honors the rich cultures and invaluable contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans, celebrating heritage rooted across all Latin American countries. Each year, Americans observe this month by recognizing the histories, cultures, and achievements of individuals whose ancestors came from the Caribbean, Central and South American donors.
 
This month is also an opportunity to celebrate the incredible generosity of Hispanic and Latino donors and their families while emphasizing the urgent need for more people in this vibrant community to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network joins the national donation community in sharing important facts and educating others about the life-saving and healing benefits of organ and tissue donation, inspiring individuals to give the ultimate gift of hope.

The Hispanic community faces a critical need for organ and tissue donation, making education on this issue essential. Hispanics are disproportionately impacted by the shortage of available organs for transplant, emphasizing the urgency of raising awareness. Across the United States, more than 100,000 people are on the organ transplant waitlist, including over 27,500 individuals from Hispanic communities. Encouraging increased donor registration within the Hispanic population is vital to addressing this disparity and saving more lives.
