- Based in Elmhurst, full-time
In this position, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships and communication with key coroners/medical examiners and funeral directors throughout Gift of Hope’s service area to facilitate the donor process and increase Gift of Hope visibility.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales or a related field; or equivalent work experience is required. Three years’ related work experience (such as in a funeral home, coroner’s office, medical examiner’s office, organ procurement organization or tissue bank) with an emphasis in customer service is required. Candidate must be self-directed and possess excellent problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience analyzing and interpreting statistical data is required, as is the ability to use Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.

Medical Technologist I
- Based in Elmhurst, full-time
- 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. work schedule
In this position, you will perform serological and molecular assays for histocompatibility testing. You will also perform equipment preventative maintenance, general maintenance of work area and other quality control procedures. In addition, you will assist with training other employees, and assist with research projects and development of new testing procedures. This position requires participation in the department’s on-call schedule once or twice a month.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in one of the biological, chemical and/or medical sciences or related field is required. One year of laboratory experience is preferred. Back to Top
- Two positions based in Elmhurst, full-time
- One position based in Springfield, full-time
In this position, you will coordinate the medical management of potential organ donors in the hospital ICU setting. You will be responsible for on-site evaluation of the potential donor and will manage the placement, recovery and preservation of donated organs for transplant. Other responsibilities include explaining the donation process to families of potential donors and obtaining consent for donation if the patient has not registered previous consent. You will take part in case follow-up, data collection, and quality assurance activities related to organ and tissue recovery.
Qualifications: Registered nurse with critical care experience, or clinical/transplant/recipient coordinator RN with at least one year of experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for this position, including the ability to communicate with potential donor families and fellow employees in a caring, service-focused manner. Attention to detail, travel by personal auto to assignments, the ability to take calls, and work outside normal business hours are required.

Referral Coordinator I – Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Based in Elmhurst, full-time
- 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. work schedule during training period
- 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. permanent work schedule following training
As a Referral Coordinator I, you will effectively process and triage donor-related calls to appropriate procurement, transplant and development personnel. Your responsibilities will include providing hospital personnel with prompt and efficient processing of all incoming and outgoing calls to optimize opportunities for organ and tissue donation.
Qualifications: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in allied health services; an Illinois or Indiana practical nurse license; or one to three years of experience triaging or caring for critical care patients, preferably as a respiratory tech, EMT, or LPN. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to make sound clinical assessments in a fast-paced environment are essential skills for this position. Must be detail-oriented with a focus on customer service. Experience within the transplantation field is a plus, as are basic computer skills.

Junior Accountant II
- Based in Elmhurst, full-time
In this position, you will be responsible for the accounts receivable area, including coding, verifying, and posting accounts receivable, preparing analytical spreadsheets, collections, revenue reconciliations and filing. Other responsibilities include serving on the receptionist relief team.
Qualifications: A high school diploma with three years of accounting experience, or an associate’s degree with one year of accounting experience, is required. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word. Good organizational skills are required, as is the ability to communicate effectively, work independently and maintain confidentiality. Back to Top
Public Relations/Volunteer Coordinator
- Based in Elmhurst, full-time
In this position, you will manage our Volunteer Network, generating measurable public commitment to organ/tissue donation. Responsibilities include developing programs that foster participation in an effective Volunteer Network; orchestrating internal and external communications for publications and marketing initiatives; working with volunteer groups to provide assistance for special projects, programs and public speaking events; and maintaining strong relationships with key community, educational, religious, civic and social organizations.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in public relations, volunteer services, marketing, communications, education/training or related work experience is required. A minimum of five years’ proven success in public education programming, outreach and/or volunteer management is strongly preferred. Candidate must possess excellent writing, proofreading, editing, public speaking and critical-thinking skills, along with meticulous attention to detail. Creativity, self-motivation, strong organizational skills and a highly developed sense of responsibility and follow-through are required. Ability to think and act independently, as well as motivate and inspire others is a must. Travel by personal car is required, as is the ability to work outside normal business hours.
